This is a one day course that prepares students to become better/more accurate and provides a follow up workbook guide to train students even after the course! This class includes classroom, live and dry fire range time and a workbook to guide your training to complete mastery of the fundamentals. This course will cover aiming, stance, position and grip as well as recoil management and trigger control. This course has limited availability to ensure plenty of one on one time with each shooter.

This course is for individuals whom possess at minimum basic handgun knowledge and use.

Required Gear: Semi-Auto pistol or revolver, 300 rounds, holster, minimum of two magazines and eye and ear protection are required.

In this class we will cover a multitude of carry options such as: off body, open carry, and concealed as well as other considerations like carry positions, cover garments, clothing choices, holster and gun selection. We will have some firearm and holster options for you to try out, but feel free to bring your own gun and/or holster(s). Do NOT bring any ammo to class. Come dressed as you would for your every-day life. You may also bring a change of clothes if you would like to try different attire with different carry options.

Introduces students to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. Students learn about pistol parts, operation, ammunition, gun safety, pistol shooting fundamentals, and pistol shooting activities. This course is great for beginners to moderate shooters alike.

The class consist of a minimum 6 hours classroom and 2 hours live fire. Students are advised to bring a safe, operable handgun to class and will need 100 rounds of ammunition to use with it. Handguns are available to rent for a $10 fee if no pistol is owned. This class meets the Ohio requirements for application for concealed carry license.* A certificate will be issued after passing the course. (*Indiana does not require a certification to apply for a concealed carry permit.)

Beginner Handgun – Ladies ONLY August 2020

Ages 18+ unless accompanied by parent or legal guardian also taking the course.

The first 4 hours of this course are designed for the new handgun owner or prospective handgun owner.This course teaches safety in handling, storing and transporting the firearms as well as Equipment (Gun, Ammunition, holsters, purses, accessories), Proper Shooting techniques and more. There are three hours of class room work followed by the last hour shooting rimfire pistol on the range. 50 rounds of CCI or Federal .22LR rimfire ammunition are needed. This is available for sale at Thunder Lakes.

The rest of the class is spent on the range working on shooting fundamentals done slowly and perfectly to include working from the holster, ball and dummy work, malfunction clearance and reloading while firing. 100 rounds of centerfire ammunition is needed along with your carry pistol.

Arrangements must be made prior to the class date for loaner gear if you do not own everything you need for this course.

Utah Concealed Carry License – September 12th @ Thunder Lakes Classroom

The course is 5 hours long and is recognized by the State of Indiana. There are no firearms required. Each student will receive a handbook detailing the course and for note taking. Each participant will be finger printed and have a background check completed that they can submit to the State of Utah (There will be a fee with the state of Utah). In order to take this training the individual is required to have a valid (CCW) license from their state of residence.

William Bryan is the instructor. He is a licensed NRA and Utah firearms instructor. His background includes: law enforcement and military training.

This class is a USCCA Certified Course that will prepare students for conceal carry and self-defense.  Topics covered throughout this course are designed to educate students on safe gun ownership, how to properly and legally protect themselves and how to prepare mentally should you find yourself in a self-defense situation in your home or in public.

This class will show you why conflict avoidance and being situationally aware is so important along with how to define and development a personal protection plan. You should also expect to leave the course with a greater knowledge of concealment, trigger control and the differences between reasonable force and deadly force as well as how to prepare for both types of situations and how to deal with the aftermath of both types of situation both legally and personally.

Lastly, this course will help students learn how to properly evaluate their home’s security and how to defend themselves and their loved ones within their home.

This INTRO TO FIREARMS class is designed for those new to firearms, those just looking for their first one or those who need a refresher of the basics. It is taught by our U.S. Conceal Carry Association (USCCA) trainer! This class will teach specific knowledge relating to the types of firearms – proper selection – parts of the gun – ammunition – function – care of and storage. Above all else students will learn proper safety while handling firearms.

This course is classroom based and designed to prepare new students for entry into more in depth courses that include range time, while providing valuable overview to those just looking to shake off the dust!

This class is a USCCA Certified Course that will prepare students for conceal carry and self-defense.  Topics covered throughout this course are designed to educate students on safe gun ownership, how to properly and legally protect themselves and how to prepare mentally should you find yourself in a self-defense situation in your home or in public.

This class will show you why conflict avoidance and being situationally aware is so important along with how to define and development a personal protection plan. You should also expect to leave the course with a greater knowledge of concealment, trigger control and the differences between reasonable force and deadly force as well as how to prepare for both types of situations and how to deal with the aftermath of both types of situation both legally and personally.

Lastly, this course will help students learn how to properly evaluate their home’s security and how to defend themselves and their loved ones within their home.

In addition to the classroom work there will be range time included.

For Beginners. (LADIES ONLY) Ages 14+

Introduces students to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. Students learn about pistol parts, operation, ammunition, gun safety, pistol shooting fundamentals, and pistol shooting activities. This course is great for beginners to moderate shooters alike.

The class consist of a minimum 6 hours classroom and 2 hours live fire. Students are advised to bring a safe, operable handgun to class and will need 100 rounds of ammunition to use with it. Handguns are available to rent for a $10 fee if no pistol is owned. This class meets the Ohio requirements for application for concealed carry license.* A certificate will be issued after passing the course. (*Indiana does not require a certification to apply for a concealed carry permit.)

Join the hundreds of others who have discovered the fun and excitement of the shooting sports! This award-winning introduction to shooting handguns course is designed for anyone who would like to learn safe handling and effective use of firearms. With a combination of classroom and range time, you will begin to learn the basics of handgun operation and ownership. This course is designed for beginners who are new to firearms and are looking for an informative overview of handgun safety and use.

Students will be provided with everything they need for this course. Including ear and eye protection (yours to keep!), a rental .22 lr firearm (you may bring yours if you wish to learn with your own – must be a .22), ammo (.22 LR), targets and classroom materials!

ALL STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE A $25.00 gift card to be used at Thunder Lakes at the completion of the class!
